'The Guiding Light' - Episode #880 Joe Roberts Mac Ken Johnson Reporter Joe Roberts and editor Mac discuss the White murder case and its newsworthiness. Against his better judgment, Joe is assigned to get the story on Meta. Joe arrives at the courthouse during the grand jury testimony and begins his investigation. Meta is indicted for 1st degree murder. NOTE: This is the 1st appearance of the character of Joe Robert. Joe would carry over as a central character when TGL moved the television the next year. If the voice of Joe sounds familiar, that's because it's the recently passed Larry Haines, better known for his 35 year run as Stu Bergman on 'Search for Tomorrow'. Ironically, Mary Stuart (who played Jo on SFT for all of those 35 years) would be the last actress to play Meta on television. |

'The Guiding Light' - Episode #889 Bert Bauer Bill Bauer Robert Rollins Mr. White Bill sees the letter from Rollins that Bert hasn't given him. Mr. White goes to see Rollins about Ted's estate's handling of Ted's loan to Bill. Mr. White attempts to act on Bill & Bert's behalf. Bill goes to see Rollins. Rollins explains the situation and the Mr. White came on his behalf. NOTE: This is the final episode I have available for the radio run of TGL. For anyone interested, Meta would go on trial for Ted's murder (the verdict which was decided on by the listers) and found innocent by reason of temporary insanity. Joe Roberts took up Meta's case and attempted to prove her innocence, which brought Joe and Meta together and they would later fall in love and marry, bringing Joe's children Joey & Kathy into the story. Bill & Bert's marriage survived their crisis and she would later give birth to two children -- Mike & Ed. Starting next Monday, I'll be beginning a new TGL series. This time will be approximately a month-long run of consecutive vintage TV episodes. |
